ATC TRAILER CONTROL
Anti-snaking system for commercial trailers

KEEP SAFE IN THE TRAFFIC LANE
The emergency system responds automatically when the vehicle combination swaying exceeds limit values. Sensors react even to slight lateral accelerations. The trailer immediately brakes automatically. The driver barely notices this correction. Braking automatically puts the trailer back on track, i.e. there is less risk of a rear-end collision due to sudden, sharp braking, and an overtaking manoeuvre is not affected.

Put your trust in ATC and contact your insurance company to ask for a discount on the premiums for your caravan.

The driving behaviour of the trailer is permanently monitored by the ATC. Sensors detect dangerous lateral movements directly on the trailer axle, even before an ESP system for trailers installed in the car is able to sense the pendulum movement. The trailer will immediately – without any action on the part of the driver – brake gently and return to a stable driving condition.

NEW AND IMPROVED
Improved early detection of risk of snaking
Faster brake access
Use up to GA of 3.5 tonnes
Optimised weight & design
Horizontal installation (installation space and ground clearance)

SIMPLY CLEVER
Avoidance manoeuvres or side winds can cause trailers to start swinging. AL-KO Trailer Control actively counteracts these forces. It detects the swinging motion directly at the axle and automatically brakes the trailer gently.

The AL-KO ATC stabilisation system can be operated in addition to trailer ESP in the car, such as is offered by some car manufacturers. AL-KO ATC Trailer Control is a one-off investment that will constantly deliver maximum safety when towing trailers.

Excellently equipped!
AL-KO offers several safety components for vehicle combinations, which can be used independently from one another, and ensure more stable driving with caravans or trailers.

ATC − The system for passive safety:
The ATC AL-KO Trailer Control is an emergency braking system and is activated automatically if the vehicle combination encounters a critical instability situation, i.e. if the swinging of the trailer reaches a critical level.

AKS − The system for active safety:
The AL-KO AKS™ stabiliser permanently suppresses minor swaying and pitching movements of the trailer and increases the critical driving speed by approx. 20% (ADAC test winner).

Thus, both systems supplement one another to make a perfect safety program: The new formula for maximum driving safety:

1. prevents skidding
2. suppresses pitching
3. counteracts swaying

Automatic: The safety check!
The 13-pin plug establishes the electrical power supply to the car.
The ATC Trailer Control system automatically starts a function test.
The LED on the overrun device lights up green. The system is 100% functional.

FAQ
ATC Trailer Control

How long does it take to install ATC?
Retroftting in about 2-4 hours.

Does ATC need to be registered when retroftted?
No. It is suffcient for the general operating permit to be included with the vehicle documents.

Where does the ATC get its electrical power from?
The ATC is connected to the trailer's distribution box, from where it is supplied by the continuous positive of the 13-pin plug when travelling.

How much current does the ATC need?
(Standard fuse) 15 amps.

Can the ATC also be ftted to trailers with a 7-pin plug?
No. The electrical power supply via the 7-pin plug is not suffcient.

Where does the LED have to be mounted?
In the area of the overrun device (visual range when coupling).

Does the brake light come on when ATC is working?
No. The ATC brakes the vehicle combination gently, comparable to the engine brake of a car. As a result, there is no need for the brake light to be activated.

Does the ATC (e.g. like the AKS stabiliser coupling) fulfl the new criteria for a 100 km/h speed limit (factor 1.0 in the caravan and factor 1.2 for other trailers)?
No. ATC (like ESP in a car) is solely an emergency system and does not improve the critical speed range like an factor 1.2 for an AKS does.

Does ATC require maintenance?
No. The system is maintenance-free.

How do I detect when ATC is ready to operate?
As soon as the 13-pin plug from the trailer or caravan is connected to the towing vehicle, ATC performs a complete self-check (1 brake activation and plausibility check of the electronics system). The function status is displayed by a green LED on the overrun device.

green = ready to function
red = non-functional (but ready for driving)
red flashing = trailer is braking (not ready for driving)

How can I tell in the car when the ATC emergency system is operating?
The gentle braking effect can be felt in the car.
